Payments overview
How money moves through Pepvote, which providers are supported, and where.
Pepvote has two kinds of payment:
- Event payments go to you. Voters pay to vote, candidates pay to register, or voters buy quadratic credits. The money lands in your Stripe or Paystack account, minus a 20% platform fee. You need a Starter or Custom plan and a connected payment business.
- Plan purchases go to Pepvote. A one-time payment upgrades one event to Starter or adds voter capacity. See Buy a plan or more voter capacity.
Providers and currencies
The country of your payment business decides the provider and currency. You cannot pick a different one.
Paystack: Côte d'Ivoire (XOF), Ghana (GHS), Kenya (KES), Nigeria (NGN), South Africa (ZAR). Needs a settlement bank account.
Stripe: Australia (AUD), Austria, Belgium, Brazil (BRL), Bulgaria, Canada (CAD or USD), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic (CZK), Denmark (DKK), Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar (GBP), Greece, Hong Kong (HKD), Hungary (HUF), India (INR, preview), Indonesia (IDR, preview), Ireland, Italy, Japan (JPY), Latvia, Liechtenstein (CHF), Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia (MYR), Malta, Mexico (MXN), Netherlands, New Zealand (NZD), Norway (NOK), Poland (PLN), Portugal, Romania (RON), Singapore (SGD), Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden (SEK), Switzerland (CHF), Thailand (THB), United Arab Emirates (AED), United Kingdom (GBP), United States (USD). Eurozone countries use EUR.
Minimum prices
Prices must be at least: AED 5, AUD 1, BRL 1, CAD 1, CHF 1, CZK 20, DKK 5, EUR 1, GBP 1, GHS 1, HKD 10, HUF 200, IDR 1, INR 1, JPY 100, KES 5, MXN 15, MYR 5, NGN 100, NOK 5, NZD 1, PLN 5, RON 5, SEK 5, SGD 1, THB 15, USD 1, XOF 150 (whole numbers only), ZAR 2. Providers may also apply their own maximums.
Payment statuses
You see these on the event's Payments page.

| Fulfilled | Paid and delivered (vote recorded, candidate registered, credits added) |

| Cancelled | Voter backed out of a credit purchase |
Who paid
Candidate registration shows the payer's name and email, because it is an application. Vote and credit payments hide the payer, because ballots are secret. Support can still trace any payment from its reference.
Unfinished payment data is deleted after 7 days. Ballot-related payer identity is deleted after 90 days.
