Event emails and testing

Which emails your event sends, how to test them safely, and what to check when one does not arrive.

Emails Pepvote sends

  • Official invites (Manager, Polling Officer, Observer)
  • Candidate and voter invites, and candidate photo requests (Starter or Custom plan)
  • Voting has started, to approved voters with an email address
  • Voter key
  • Vote submitted, with the confirmation code
  • Registration approved, if you turned that on
  • Export ready or export failed, for large exports

Test without emailing real people

In Voting Event Settings → General, set Send Emails To to your own address. Keys, invites, confirmations, and approvals go there instead of to participants. Voting-started and export emails still go to their real recipients.

Clear the field before you go live. It is the most common reason a voter's key "never arrived".

An email did not arrive

  1. Is Send Emails To set? The email went there.
  2. Is the address on the record spelled right? Pepvote silently skips invalid addresses.
  3. Is the person eligible? A voter key needs an approved voter who has not voted, in an Ongoing election.
  4. Does the plan include it? Participant invites need Starter or Custom.
  5. Ask them to check spam and search for "Pepvote".

Still stuck? Contact support with the event code, the email type, when you triggered it, and whether Send Emails To was set.
