Voting methods
Ranked choice voting
Let voters rank candidates, then count with IRV, STV, or Borda.
Voters rank candidates in order of preference. You choose how those rankings are counted.
| Rule | Use it for | Settings |
|---|---|---|
| IRV (instant runoff) | One winner | Default. No extra settings. |
| STV (single transferable vote) | Several seats | Seat count (2 or more) and a quota: Droop (default), Hare, or Majority. |
| Borda | Points per rank | Scoring: zero-based (default), one-based, or Dowdall. |
Set it up
On the position, set Voting Method to Ranked Choice, set how many candidates voters must and may rank, and pick the rule. Pepvote never asks for more rankings than there are candidates.
Reading the result
Ranked results show a round-by-round trace in the position detail. After voting closes, the ranked count may say it is still calculating for a moment. Wait for it before you download the PDF.
